Install and sign up
ReTerminal runs on macOS 13 or newer and Windows 10/11. Download the installer, open it, and create an account. Everything below takes about two minutes.
1. Create your account
Enter an e-mail and a password. The password is turned into keys on your device; the server only ever sees a derived login key, never the password itself.
Note: Write down the recovery code you are shown next. It is displayed once. Without it, a forgotten password means a new account and lost personal hosts.
2. Add a host
Press ⌘N, fill in hostname, port and user, choose a key or type a password, and press Connect. The host appears in your list and syncs to your other devices.
Host api-prod-01
Hostname 10.0.4.12
Port 22
User deploy
Key ~/.ssh/id_ed25519 (imported, encrypted)
3. Connect
Select the host and press ⌘↵. The first time you connect to a server, ReTerminal shows the server's host key fingerprint and asks you to confirm it — compare it with what your hosting provider shows before you accept.
